Kuyt said the first-half approach had matched the plan, but the team did not start the second half well. He stressed that the build-up approach preceding the goal was his instruction.

Explaining substitutions, he said Semedo was replaced because of his booking, while Oppong signalled discomfort and was withdrawn after feeling pain.
