Psychiatrist Dr Emine Yılmaz died after undergoing a facelift at a private hospital in İzmir’s Konak district. Her body was taken to the İzmir Forensic Medicine Institute to investigate the cause of death.

Treatment in intensive care

According to İHA, Yılmaz received emergency intervention after her heart stopped following surgery under general anaesthesia. She was moved to intensive care after resuscitation efforts but could not be saved.

Reports alleged that the operation lasted 11 hours. Its precise duration and medical connection to the death have not been established in a publicly released expert report.

An investigation has begun. The autopsy and examination of the operation and treatment records are expected to clarify the cause. No final finding of fault against a doctor or institution was reported.
