We asked Mehmet Emin Soyvural of the AK Party’s Batman organisation about his approach to serving Gercüş and communicating with residents. The interview covers the district’s future, residents’ expectations and cooperation with local government.
What does Gercüş mean to you?
Mehmet Emin Soyvural: “For us, Gercüş is more than a district; it is a bond of the heart. We care deeply about the people, culture and values of this land.
In our understanding, serving the public is not merely a duty but also a moral responsibility.
We care about our residents’ happiness, peace and prosperity. We strive to fulfil our responsibilities so that Gercüş can have a better future.
What matters to us is not positions of office, but the good services we leave behind and the place we earn in people’s hearts.”
How do you view your communication with residents?
Mehmet Emin Soyvural: “People are at the centre of our political approach. I believe we cannot truly serve residents without listening to their concerns and understanding their difficulties.
That is why we value spending time with people, listening to their requests and seeking solutions within our means.
Every request from a fellow resident of Gercüş matters to us. Sometimes we need to listen to someone’s concerns; sometimes we need to speak with the relevant institutions to help resolve a problem.
In our approach, service has no fixed hours. When necessary, we work day and night, because our residents’ peace of mind and satisfaction matter above all.”
How do you view cooperation with Gündüz Günaydın and İbrahim Torlak?
Mehmet Emin Soyvural: “Serving Gercüş is a shared responsibility. I attach great importance to unity, solidarity and consultation.
We value working with our mayor, Mr Gündüz Günaydın, and our AK Party Gercüş district chairman, Mr İbrahim Torlak, with a shared understanding of our district’s needs.
I appreciate both chairmen’s efforts and work for Gercüş.
I believe cooperation is particularly important in considering residents’ requests, conveying our district’s needs to the relevant institutions and exploring solutions.
I would therefore like to thank Mayor Gündüz Günaydın and District Chairman İbrahim Torlak for their work, efforts and cooperation.
Gercüş is our common ground. When it comes to serving our hometown, acting in unity and solidarity is our greatest responsibility.”
What are the priorities for Gercüş’s development?
Mehmet Emin Soyvural: “Gercüş is a district of great value, with its history, culture and people. I believe this potential should be put to better use.
Infrastructure, transport, rural development, opportunities for young people and improvements to social life are among the issues that deserve attention.
Naturally, each issue must be considered within the powers and responsibilities of the relevant institutions.
We want to contribute as much as we can to conveying residents’ requests to the appropriate authorities and following up on efforts to resolve them.
I believe every positive step towards Gercüş’s future should be supported.”
What should underpin a successful approach to public service?
Mehmet Emin Soyvural: “In my view, politics should be grounded in sincerity, honesty, accessibility and public service.
We need to stand by people all the time, not just during elections.
We should share our residents’ joys as well as their difficulties, because we live on the same land and share the same future.
I see politics less as a matter of holding office than as a responsibility to be useful to people.
With this understanding, I want to continue contributing to every effort that benefits Gercüş and our fellow residents.”
What is your final message to the people of Gercüş?
Mehmet Emin Soyvural: “First, I send my love, respect and warm regards to all our fellow residents of Gercüş.
Our greatest strength is our unity and solidarity. I believe Gercüş will reach a better tomorrow as long as we look after one another, protect our shared values and work together for our hometown’s future.
I would also like to thank our Mayor of Gercüş, Mr Gündüz Günaydın, our AK Party Gercüş District Chairman, Mr İbrahim Torlak, and everyone who contributes to our district.
Our love for Gercüş and our desire to serve it will continue.
