Israel prepared a multi-day air campaign against Iran but did not carry it out after objections from US President Donald Trump, the Financial Times reported. Citing three people familiar with the plans, the newspaper said the operation was intended for the weekend of 10 October.

Nuclear and power facilities among targets

The reported target list included nuclear facilities, electricity plants and sites linked to Iran’s leadership. Benjamin Netanyahu had ordered preparations, but Trump opposed renewed escalation before the congressional midterm elections on 3 November, according to the report.

White House position before the vote

Investing.com’s account of the FT report said the White House had stated that the US would not attack Iran before the midterms. Netanyahu was nevertheless continuing to press for renewed strikes. The reporting does not establish a confirmed date for another operation.
