Excavations in Old Van, south of Van Castle, have uncovered a fountain described as Ottoman-era. The structure in the Horhor area carries the inscription “Afiyet olsun,” a Turkish expression wishing enjoyment or wellbeing.

Governor Ozan Balcı said the aim was to restore the fountain and return it to public use. Excavations continue to reveal the old city’s historic structures.
