Türkiye’s Defence Ministry announced the death of infantry contract private Yusuf Sait Ünlü in Hakkâri. According to the ministry, he was wounded by gunfire while responding to a border-crossing incident on 31 October in the 7th Border Brigade’s Esendere–Yüksekova area.

He was flown by helicopter to Hakkâri State Hospital but died despite treatment.

The ministry offered condolences to his family, the armed forces and the nation. Its statement did not identify who fired the shots.
