The red-flag rally against Marco Rubio’s visit to Athens took place on 6 October. Reuters footage records more than 2,000 participants protesting the US secretary of state’s visit and military cooperation. PAME and KKE-linked groups took part.

Education and housing demands

A separate demonstration followed on 21 October. Students and teachers called for greater education funding, better school conditions and affordable housing. Reuters put attendance in Athens and its surroundings at roughly 10,000.

The two rallies occurred on different dates and centred on different demands.
