Como beat Lens 9-1 away in Champions League Matchday 4. Cesc Fàbregas’s side matched the competition’s biggest winning margin of eight goals and recorded its largest away victory.

Douvikas scores three

According to UEFA’s round-up, Anastasios Douvikas scored a hat-trick. Nico Paz, Lucas Da Cunha, Marc-Oliver Kempf, Mattia Liberali, Martin Baturina and Matteo Papaccioli added the other goals. Ruben Aguilar scored Lens’s consolation.

Two Douvikas goals and a Nico Paz strike put Como in control before the interval. The visitors continued scoring afterwards. Douvikas reached six goals in this season’s competition and was named Player of the Match.

An eight-goal winning margin

UEFA’s records place the result alongside Liverpool’s 8-0 win against Beşiktaş in 2007 and Real Madrid’s 8-0 victory over Malmö in 2015. Bayern München’s 9-2 defeat of Dinamo Zagreb in 2024 had a seven-goal margin.

In their debut Champions League season, Como were fourth at the league-phase halfway point. The result also drew extensive coverage in Italy and France.
