Reports claimed a sharp rise in the price of FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono’s EA Sports FC Ultimate Team card following Tenerife forward Jesús de Miguel’s death. A screenshot described by Son Dakika shows the 67-rated card at 8,900 in-game coins and a 1,269.23% trend increase. It is not an independently verified price index for the whole game.

No confirmed card removal

The report suggested some users were buying in anticipation of the card being removed from packs. It also said there was no official EA Sports announcement confirming removal. The claim is therefore not a confirmed game update.

According to Reuters and AP, De Miguel, 30, was taken to hospital after a collision with Owono during Tenerife–Andorra and died on 3 November. Owono later issued a message of condolences to the family.

The sporting tragedy and the reported in-game trading are separate matters. Speculation about a card does not constitute a legal finding of responsibility against the goalkeeper.
