President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said it was too early to draw firm conclusions about how the US midterm elections would affect ties with Türkiye or policy in the Middle East. Speaking to reporters after his South Korea visit, he expressed hope for positive effects on regional and world politics.

Dialogue with Congress to continue

Erdoğan recalled that Türkiye and the United States are NATO allies with a longstanding relationship. He said close dialogue would continue with the US administration and both chambers of Congress, the House of Representatives and the Senate.

He said Ankara wants an end to regional wars and conflicts and hopes the election results will contribute to lasting peace and stability. He announced no new bilateral agreement or foreign-policy change in those remarks.

His comments emphasised continued diplomatic engagement while avoiding a definite forecast of how changes in Congress would translate into policy.
