Truck drivers protesting high fuel costs in southern Italy have blocked roads and logistics access, disrupting food distribution. Some fresh-food shelves in and around Naples were empty, while pasta and mozzarella producers faced delivery problems.

Fewer supplies reach Rome

Anadolu Agency, citing Rai News, reported disruption at the Interporto Sud Europa terminal in Caserta. Reduced fruit and vegetable deliveries to Rome pushed up wholesale prices.

Deputy Transport Minister Edoardo Rixi said the government had begun releasing €480 million in contributions for road haulage. The support announcement does not establish that all delivery bottlenecks have ended.
