Moldovan Prime Minister Vasile Tofan said his country needed to align its visa policy with European Union rules as accession progresses. Speaking on TV8 on November 5, he gave no date for a possible change.

TV8’s account of the European Commission report lists Turkey among 11 countries requiring alignment. The others are Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Qatar and Vanuatu.

The remarks do not mean Turkish citizens became subject to visas today. No implementation date or detailed procedure was announced. Travellers planning a Moldova visit should check the official entry conditions applicable on their travel date.
