Türkiye’s central bank will announce its Monetary Policy Committee decision at 14:00 Turkish time on 22 October. The committee, chaired by Fatih Karahan, held the policy rate at 37% in September.

Rate-cut forecasts dominate

In a Matriks Haber survey, 32 of the 37 economists providing an October forecast expected a 100-basis-point reduction. That would take the one-week repo auction rate to 36%. The forecast is not a decision by the bank.

Markets will also watch the accompanying statement for signals on inflation and monetary restraint. The final scheduled MPC meeting of the year is on 10 December.
