The Afyonkarahisar governor’s office confirmed that eight people were killed and one seriously injured in shootings in the province. The statement followed examinations at several locations in İhsaniye and said the judicial process was being coordinated by the chief prosecutor’s office.

People with gunshot wounds were found in and around vehicles near Ayazini and Kıyır. Injured people were also located in Yukarıtandır and taken to hospitals. Preliminary reports had put the death toll at five and then seven before the governor’s later confirmation of eight.

Security forces are searching for a suspect reported to have fled in a red light commercial vehicle. Checks have been carried out on village roads and routes towards neighbouring provinces.

The governor’s office said institutions were working together to establish all aspects of the attacks. Identification work continued, while no definitive motive was announced in the sources consulted.
