The suspect detained over shootings that killed eight people and seriously injured one in Afyonkarahisar allegedly took a car at gunpoint while fleeing. Its owner, Talha Gökgöz, said the man they encountered in Seyitgazi, Eskişehir, claimed to be an intelligence officer.
In his account to the press, Gökgöz said the suspect took their phones and pointed a shotgun at his friend. He handed over the keys out of concern for his friend’s safety. The account does not establish any genuine intelligence affiliation.
Eskişehir’s governor confirmed that police and gendarmerie captured the suspect alive. After medical checks and processing, he was handed to Afyonkarahisar officers. Investigators are examining the motive; a deputy chief prosecutor and three prosecutors have been assigned.
