A child swept into a stream during flooding in Hatay’s Dörtyol district was found by search teams about one kilometre away. The child received emergency treatment before being taken to Dörtyol State Hospital and was reported to remain in critical condition.
Search along Özerli stream
According to Son Dakika’s 5 November report, the incident occurred overnight in Özerli neighbourhood. Teams searched along the stream after the child was swept away. Medical staff performed chest compressions at the scene before the transfer to hospital. Treatment was continuing, the report said; the child’s age and identity were not disclosed.
Homes and businesses flooded
Heavy rain affected several neighbourhoods in Dörtyol after an orange weather warning for Hatay. TRT Haber, citing Anadolu Agency, reported flooding in homes, businesses and farmland in Karakese, Özerli and Kuzuculu. Parked vehicles were carried away by the water.
Police took precautions at bridges and boulevards where transport was disrupted. State Hydraulic Works teams worked in stream beds while municipal crews began pumping water from flooded homes. The sources used for this report provided no further outcome on the child’s hospital treatment.
