US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s future is under scrutiny after the midterm elections. Reports attributed to NBC News sources said President Donald Trump had discussed possible successors with advisers.

Trump, however, publicly praised Hegseth’s work and said he was not planning to remove him. The Pentagon also maintained that the secretary remained committed to his role. No official dismissal has been announced.

Pressure in Congress

Republican Representative Thomas Massie said he would revive an impeachment effort over Iran operations and congressional powers. Hegseth rejected the effort in a social media video. The dispute comes amid criticism of the administration’s Iran policy and military spending. Reports of potential personnel changes have not altered Hegseth’s confirmed status in office.
