Social security specialist İsa Karakaş said he expected Turkey’s minimum wage increase for 2027 to be no less than 30 per cent. His assessment of tax-exemption items in the budget is a forecast, rather than an announced wage settlement.
A 30% rise would mean TRY36,498.15
The current monthly net minimum wage for 2026 is TRY28,075.50. Increasing it by 30 per cent would add TRY8,422.65, taking the total to TRY36,498.15. The calculation is illustrative; the official wage will be determined after the commission process.
Housing loan proposal for pensioners
Karakaş also proposed low-interest housing loans for pensioners through cooperation between social security institution SGK and housing agency TOKİ, with repayments deducted from pensions. He called for a 40-hour working week and incentives for employers making that change. These were policy proposals, not newly introduced programmes.
